I had a food fail. It was very sad. I was trying to make a Vietnamese cake made with rice flour . . . I have a nice pudding. It just didn't set. I assume that when the recipe called for rice flour, it meant regular as it didn't specify glutinous. Now I feel maybe this was an incorrect assumption. So, I have some nice coconut pudding . . .

It looked good and bubbly like it was supposed to |

Nice bubbly pan of cake . . . setting . . . |

No . . . No setting. Very sad. |
Why did I blog about it? I feel sometimes you have to put up your epic fails too.
Sadly sometimes these things happen. I had it too with a sweet potato curry recipe I was trying in the past week. The sauce stayed thin while it shouldn't have. But at least you still have nice pudding ;)
ReplyDeleteMaybe this fail will turn out to be just a new recipe for a delicious pudding?
ReplyDeletevery very sweet pudding, but yes.
ReplyDeleteNothing like trying out a new recipe that just does not work.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great to post about things that aren't all that successful! And you got a nice pudding out of it!
ReplyDeleteBummer. Glad that you can still eat it though.
ReplyDeleteWe're all human and not every recipe works out. It can be hard at times, but I post my 'fails' as well.Thankfully they are less often than they used to be.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about your cake. Food fails are just part of cooking. At my age, my food mistakes could fill a book. The worst one was when I put in baking soda instead of baking powder for my new husband's favorite biscuits. They were hockey pucks. We still laugh about them.
